Lynda Chin, M.D., Founder
Dr. Chin is the scientific founder of Metamark. Dr. Chin is the Chair of the Department of Genomic Medicine and the Scientific Director of the Institute for Applied Cancer Science at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. At the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, Dr. Chin is the PI of a TCGA Genome Data Analysis Center. Prior to joining MD Anderson, Dr. Chin was a Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, was the Scientific Director of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institutes’ Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science, and co-led the DF/HCC Melanoma Program and the Harvard Skin SPORE. Dr. Chin received her M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1993. She is a board-certified dermatologist and conducted her clinical and scientific training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident of Dermatology. In addition to her many contributions in the area of melanoma genetics and modeling, Dr. Chin focuses on comparative oncogenomics of mouse and human cancers, and integration of functional genetic approaches to accelerate the translation of genomic insights into clinical endpoints. Dr. Chin is actively involved in The Cancer Genes Atlas (TCGA) Project, a member of its Executive Subcommittee, and chairs the GBM and Melanoma Disease Working Groups that interface the genomic science within TCGA with basic and translational biology in the broader community. She is also a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Cancer Genome Consortium. Ronald A. DePinho, M.D., co-Founder
Dr. DePinho is a co-founder of Metamark. Dr. DePinho is the President of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Prior to his appointment at MD Anderson, Dr. DePinho spent 14 years at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. There, he was the founding director of the Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science, a Professor of Medicine and Genetics at Harvard Medical School, and an American Cancer Society Research Professor. He has been a leader in the construction and use of engineered mouse models of human cancer, developing the first metastatic mouse model of prostate cancer. He co-founded AVEO Pharmaceuticals, served on many advisory boards in the public and private sector, and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the 2009 4th Annual Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research. Dr. DePinho is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Top
Raju Kucherlapati, Ph.D., co-Founder
Dr. Kucherlapati is a founding advisor, the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of Metamark, and a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Kucherlapati is the Paul C. Cabot Professor of Genetics and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kucherlapati was the First Scientific Director of the Harvard Medical School – Partners Healthcare Center for Genetics and Genomics (HPCGG). A major goal of HPCGG was to develop and implement strategies for bringing genetics/genomics to clinical medicine. He has been and continues to be active in the national personalized medicine community. He was a Founder of Cell Genesys, Abgenix, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. As a member of the Board of Directors of these and other companies, Dr. Kucherlapati has gained experience in building highly successful companies from the ground up. Dr. Kucherlapati is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues. Top
David Rimm, M.D. / Ph.D., co-Founder
Dr. Rimm is a co-Founder and serves as a consultant to the
company. Dr. Rimm is a Professor of Pathology at Yale, Director of the Yale Tissue Microarray Facility and scientific co-founder of HistoRx, the exclusive licensee of the AQUA® technology invented in Dr. Rimm’s lab. Dr Rimm’s AQUA® technology is the most rigorous, reproducible and accurate mechanism for in situ protein quantification. As a member of the founding team, Dr. Rimm advises on all aspects of R&D related to MetamarkDx™ biomarker assay validation and development. Dr. Rimm is a leading authority on the use of biomarkers to predict metastasis and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the 2004 Starwood/Breast Cancer Alliance Commitment Award. Kenneth E. Weg, co-Founder & Chairman
Mr. Weg is a Metamark co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Weg’s extensive pharmaceutical industry experience provides critical guidance in the areas of strategic planning, corporate and business development, product development, commercial operations and government affairs. Mr. Weg earned a B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth in 1960 and an M.B.A. from Columbia in 1962. He has over 33 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Merck and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Prior to his retirement, he was President, Worldwide Medicines Group, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, responsible for all ethical pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medicines on a global basis. He was elected to the Board of Directors in May 1995 and as Vice Chairman in May 1999. He retired in February 2001 to become Founder and the Chairman of Clearview Projects which acts as a strategic advisor to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life science industries. Mr. Weg serves on the Board of Directors of Fox Chase Cancer Center, and AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He was the non-executive Chairman of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. until the company was bought by Takeda in 2008. Top
